What We’re Doing
WAIT WAIT DON'T KILL ME
Created by Alan Schmuckler (2018 Kleban Prize lyricist winner) and Dave Holstein (creator of Showtime’s new series, Kidding), Wait Wait Don’t Kill Me is a subversive, comedic new musical satire that explores the pursuit of celebrity at all costs and our obsession with murder as entertainment. Inspired by the events surrounding the making of NPR’s Serial, this 10-person, two-act production shines new light on the making of the world’s most successful podcast and America’s relationship to the media. Available for engagements in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
Everything is Fine Until It's Not
This one-woman, hour-long story follows a workaholic film producer as her life goes off-script. When her son is diagnosed with autism, she abandons her career and focuses all attention on her son with the help of her mother and her funny, irrepressible crew of old-school African-American matriarch aunts from Newark, NJ. Available for single performance through week-long engagements beginning Fall of 2018 through Spring of 2021.
From Tectonic Theater Project (Artistic Director, Moisés Kaufman), Uncommon Sense is an 8-person new play about living life on the autism spectrum. This two-act, multimedia production reveals our universal challenges with “difference,” our desire to connect, and the lengths we will go for the people we love. Available for engagements in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
THE BUBBLY BLACK GIRL SHEDS HER CHAMELEON SKIN
Obie Award winners Kirsten Childs and Robert O’Hara, the writing/directing duo behind the Lortel Award-winning Bella: An American Tall Tale, will once again team up to bring The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin to the regional stages after its revival as part of the 2017 City Center Encores. Bubbly is the hopeful and humorous coming-of-age story that follows Viveca Stanton as she navigates the confusing worlds of racism, sexism and Broadway showbiz, always with a bubbly smile, until she’s forced to face the devastating effect self-denial has had on her life. Available for engagements in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
